TERMS & CONDITIONS

Last updated: Oct 11th, 2026 (version V0)

These Terms & Conditions apply to bookings made directly with Normandy Explorations through its website, by email, by telephone or through a written quotation accepted directly by the customer.

Bookings made through GetYourGuide, Viator or another third-party booking platform are also subject to the applicable platform terms, activity-specific cancellation policy and booking confirmation. In the event of a difference, the terms applicable to the booking channel and the specific activity will govern that booking, subject to mandatory applicable law.

1. Business identity and contact

The services are provided by Bernard DEBAIL, an individual entrepreneur (entrepreneur individuel – EI) trading under the business name Normandy Explorations, established in Normandy, France.

Email: normandyexplorations@gmail.com
Telephone: +33 (0)6 01 45 36 96 / +33 (0)7 83 89 04 04

2. Services offered

Normandy Explorations offers private guided experiences in Normandy, France. Depending on the product booked, services may include:

  • Private D-Day battlefield and landing-beach tours.
  • Walking and hiking tours.
  • E-bike and cycling experiences.
  • Private transportation and transfers.
  • Customized itineraries and multi-day private guided experiences.

The exact characteristics of each service, including duration, meeting point, itinerary, maximum group size, inclusions, exclusions, price and any specific requirements, are described on the relevant product page or in the written quotation and booking confirmation.

An itinerary published as an example is indicative unless the booking confirmation explicitly states that it is fixed.

For The Normandy Discovery Tour, the maximum group size, transportation arrangements, price and inclusions are those stated in the applicable quotation or product description.

3. Enquiries, quotations and booking confirmation

An enquiry or request for availability does not by itself constitute a confirmed booking.

A booking becomes confirmed when Normandy Explorations has accepted the booking in writing and the customer has completed the payment or deposit required by the applicable quotation or checkout process.

The confirmation will specify, as applicable:

  • The service booked and its duration.
  • The date, starting time and meeting or pick-up location.
  • The number of participants.
  • The total price and any agreed supplements.
  • The payment schedule.
  • The cancellation policy applicable to that booking.

Customers should check the confirmation carefully and inform Normandy Explorations promptly of any error.

Customized itineraries, pick-up arrangements and additional services are subject to availability and must be confirmed in writing.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are quoted in euros. The applicable price, taxes and any additional charges are displayed on the relevant product page or stated in the written quotation before the customer commits to the booking.

Any pick-up supplement, additional participant charge, requested modification or optional service must be agreed before it is charged.

Payment methods and payment deadlines are those presented at checkout or in the written quotation. A booking that requires prepayment or a deposit is not confirmed until the required payment has been received, unless otherwise stated in writing.

Where payment is processed by a third-party payment provider, its payment processing conditions may also apply.

5. Customer responsibilities

Customers must provide accurate booking information, including the correct number of participants and appropriate contact details.

Customers must arrive at the agreed meeting point at the scheduled time and be ready to start the activity. If a Customer expects to be late, they must contact Normandy Explorations by telephone as soon as possible and, where practicable, before the scheduled start time.

Any agreement to wait beyond the scheduled start time is at the discretion of Normandy Explorations and must be expressly confirmed by the guide. Contacting the guide does not automatically entitle the Customer to an extension of the waiting period or a later start.

The guide is not required to extend the activity beyond its scheduled end time to compensate for a late arrival. The no-show policy in Section 13 applies where the Customer fails to arrive within the applicable 15-minute grace period.

For outdoor activities, participants should wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring any personal items reasonably needed for the activity and weather conditions.

Customers must inform Normandy Explorations in advance of relevant mobility or accessibility requirements that may affect the feasibility of a proposed activity. Only information necessary to plan and deliver the service should be provided.

Participants must behave safely and respectfully, follow the guide’s instructions and comply with local site rules.

6. Children and minors

Where minors take part in an activity, the booking adult or responsible group leader must ensure appropriate supervision of the minors throughout the activity, unless a different arrangement has been expressly agreed in writing.

Normandy Explorations provides guiding services and does not provide childcare or assume the role of a school, parent or legal guardian.

Any age restrictions, equipment requirements or special conditions stated for a particular activity must be observed.

7. Walking, cycling and e-bike activities

Walking, hiking, cycling and e-bike experiences may involve uneven ground, changes in weather, traffic or other ordinary outdoor risks.

Participants must be reasonably capable of undertaking the selected activity and must follow safety instructions. Cycling participants must comply with applicable road rules and the instructions provided for the activity.

Where equipment is supplied, participants must use it responsibly and report any problem immediately.

Normandy Explorations may modify a route or activity where reasonably necessary for safety, weather, site access or operational reasons. Any material change to the booked service will be handled in accordance with the applicable booking conditions and mandatory law.

8. Transportation and pick-up

Transportation is included only where expressly specified in the product description or written quotation.

The confirmed booking will identify the pick-up location and any applicable supplement. A request for a different starting point is subject to acceptance and may affect the price or itinerary.

Passengers must comply with reasonable safety instructions and applicable vehicle rules. Children must use the legally required restraints and seating arrangements.

9. Inclusions and exclusions

Only services and items expressly identified as included in the product description or booking confirmation are included in the price.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, accommodation, meals, drinks, personal expenses, museum admission and other attraction entrance fees are not included.

A recommendation or link to a hotel, accommodation provider, restaurant, rental company or other third party does not itself constitute a booking made by Normandy Explorations on the customer’s behalf.

Accommodation and any other separately purchased travel service remain subject to the third party’s own contract and cancellation terms.

10. Customer cancellations

The cancellation policy applying to a booking must be displayed on the relevant product page or in the written quotation before the customer confirms the booking.

For standard tours booked directly, unless a different policy is expressly stated for the selected activity:

  • Cancellation more than 14 days before the scheduled start time qualifies for a full refund of the amount paid for the cancelled activity.
  • Cancellation between 7 and 14 days before the scheduled start time qualifies for half refund of the amount paid for the cancelled activity.
  • Cancellation 7 days or less before the scheduled start time is non-refundable, subject to any mandatory statutory rights. No-shows and late arrivals are governed by Section 13.

For customized or multi-day private tours, the written quotation may specify a different cancellation schedule appropriate to the service and any arrangements made specifically for the customer. Any such schedule must be clearly provided before the booking is confirmed.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to normandyexplorations@gmail.com and should include the booking reference, customer name and activity date.

Refunds will be processed using the original payment method where practicable. The time required for the funds to appear in the customer’s account may depend on the payment provider or issuing bank.

These cancellation terms do not remove any mandatory statutory rights that apply to a particular contract.

11. Changes requested by the customer

Requests to change a date, starting time, meeting point, number of participants or itinerary are subject to availability and written acceptance by Normandy Explorations.

A change may affect the price, duration or feasibility of the activity. Any additional charges must be communicated before the change is confirmed.

A requested change is not effective until it has been accepted in writing.

12. Cancellation or changes by Normandy Explorations

Normandy Explorations may need to amend an itinerary or cancel an activity because of severe weather, unsafe conditions, site closures, restrictions imposed by authorities, transport disruption, illness or other circumstances beyond reasonable control.

Where reasonably practicable, Normandy Explorations will notify the customer promptly and discuss an alternative date, a suitable modification or another reasonable solution.

If Normandy Explorations cancels a booked activity and no acceptable alternative is agreed, the customer will receive a refund for the cancelled service in accordance with the applicable booking conditions and mandatory law.

A minor route adjustment made for safety or operational reasons does not automatically constitute cancellation if the essential nature of the booked service remains substantially unchanged.

13. Late arrival and no-show

Customers must arrive at the agreed meeting point at the scheduled start time.

Unless a different arrangement has been expressly confirmed by Normandy Explorations, if the Customer and the other participants covered by the booking have not arrived within 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, and the Customer has not contacted Normandy Explorations and obtained explicit agreement to a delay, Normandy Explorations reserves the right to treat the booking as a no-show, cancel the scheduled activity and leave the meeting point.

In such circumstances, the missed activity will be treated as a cancellation by the Customer. No refund, including a partial refund, will be due for the missed activity, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Contacting Normandy Explorations does not automatically extend the waiting period. Any decision to wait longer or modify the activity remains subject to the guide’s express agreement and availability.

For multi-day private tours, the written quotation or booking confirmation must specify the consequences of a no-show at the first scheduled meeting, including whether the remaining itinerary may be cancelled. Any no-refund provision relating to the entire multi-day booking must be clearly disclosed and accepted before the booking is confirmed.

This section does not exclude any refund or other right that cannot lawfully be waived.

14. Right of withdrawal

Under French consumer law, the statutory right of withdrawal generally does not apply to leisure activities that are to be provided on a specific date or during a specific period where the conditions of Article L. 221-28(12) of the French Consumer Code are met.

This statutory exception is distinct from any cancellation policy expressly offered by Normandy Explorations. Where a service does not fall within a statutory exception, the customer’s mandatory statutory rights remain applicable and will be communicated as required.

15. Liability and insurance

Normandy Explorations undertakes to provide the services with reasonable care and in accordance with the confirmed booking.

Customers remain responsible for their personal belongings and for following safety instructions.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by mandatory law, including applicable consumer protection rules.

Any specific safety rules, insurance requirements or participation restrictions applicable to an activity will be communicated before booking or participation as appropriate.

16. Complaints

Customers who are dissatisfied with a service should contact Normandy Explorations as soon as reasonably possible, preferably in writing, at normandyexplorations@gmail.com.

The complaint should include the booking reference, activity date, a description of the issue and the outcome requested.

Normandy Explorations will review the complaint and respond within a reasonable period.

For bookings made through GetYourGuide, Viator or another platform, customers should also follow the platform’s applicable complaint and refund procedures.

17. Consumer mediation

Where a dispute cannot be resolved directly, a consumer may refer the matter to the consumer mediator to which Normandy Explorations is affiliated, subject to the relevant admissibility requirements.

18. Personal data

Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy available on this website.

Cookie and tracking preferences can be managed through the website’s cookie settings, once the consent tool is configured.

19. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by French law, subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions applicable to the booking.

For disputes involving consumers, jurisdiction shall be determined in accordance with the applicable mandatory legal rules. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits a consumer’s right to bring proceedings before any court available under applicable law, including Article R.631-3 of the French Consumer Code where applicable.

For contracts concluded exclusively between parties acting as traders in a professional capacity, the courts having territorial jurisdiction in Caen, France, shall have jurisdiction over disputes arising from the contract, provided that this clause is valid under Article 48 of the French Code of Civil Procedure and has been brought to the other party’s attention in a very apparent manner.

20. Amendments

The version of these Terms & Conditions applicable to a booking is the version made available to the customer before the booking was confirmed, together with any specific terms expressly accepted in the quotation or booking confirmation.

Updates to this page apply to future bookings and do not retrospectively alter an already confirmed booking unless permitted by law and agreed by the parties.
